Toscha Turner is an Edmonton native and graduate of the University of Alberta (MA – Music & Sociology, BA – Music Theory, BMus – Performance Double Bass). As a musician, sound artist and ethnomusicologist, Toscha has studied in Montreal, New York, The Netherlands and Banff, performed professionally with symphonies and chamber ensembles throughout Western Canada and had her installation work included in shows internationally. As a local community organizer, Toscha is currently on the boards of The Local Good, Edmonton on the Edge, Belgravia Arts Park, Make Something Edmonton, Edmonton Community Foundation Community & Social Services Committee, & Chronos Music Society, and has recently been recognized as one of Avenue Edmonton’s 2013 Top40Under40.
As a strong advocate for the sublime, transformative power of artistic engagement on individuals, environments, and community, Toscha feels blessed to find herself working in a creative, groundbreaking organization, but when not at her iHuman Youth Society office, you can find this shameless #yegdt booster free-ranging as a super-hero with her son, or plotting a collaborative public art intervention near you.
