Toscha Turner is an Edmonton native and graduate of the University of Alberta (MA – Music & Sociology, BA – Music Theory, BMus – Performance Double Bass).  As a musician, sound artist and ethnomusicologist, Toscha has studied in MontrealNew York, The Netherlands and Banff, performed professionally with symphonies and chamber ensembles throughout Western Canada and had her installation work included in shows internationally.  In addition to the musical awards and scholarships Toscha has received throughout her career, her academic work has been recognized twice by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and she was named one of Avenue Edmonton's 2013 Top40Under40 for her work in public art & community development.

As a strong advocate for the sublime, transformative power of artistic engagement on individuals, environments, and community, Toscha feels blessed to be engaged in a city full of so many collaborative trailblazers and groundbreakers.  When not hard at work performing, teaching, or consulting, you can find this shameless #yegdt booster volunteering with Edmonton Community Foundation, free-ranging as a super-hero with her son, or plotting a collaborative public art intervention near you.
